Today another trip was provided for my AIFS group to the
South Coast of Sydney and only about 7 of the 19 of us went. It was a nice trip
of random site seeing. We stopped for views of the coastline and then went to
go get lunch. I splurged on some ice cream. :) We learned a lot about the
aboloriginal people and their customs. The woman there was only able to tell us
about women’s work and the man the same about male’s roles. They showed us how
to weave and carve and make a boomerang. I learned the boomerang is used to
throw in a huge group toward a group of birds to send them into the air with a
noise similar to bird flight. Once the birds are in the air, weapons are shot
at them to get them. A non-returnable boomerang is used to throw at kangaroos
or emus to knock them over or get them between the legs and break them. Then we
went further south to a water fall. The scenery was gorgeous and Danielle and I
were the only two that decided to walk around more to see the rest of the park.
We all slept pretty well on the 2 hour bus ride back. I stayed up really like
(3am) that night doing lots more homework to stay on task with what I need to
get done…. I’m going to be tired tomorrow.
