July 15th: Beachcomber Island

What a beautiful day! We headed out to Beachcomber Island today. This is one of the 300 Islands that Fiji is made up of. We had to drive to the port and got on a ferry that took about 45 minutes. We passed lots of individual islands that had little huts and fires going. The water was crystal clear and super blue. We had lunch and then paid $5 to go snorkling for an hour. the boat brought us out far from the shore but the water was still not deep. Even on our arrival from the ferry we had to get on a smaller boat to get onto shore. Snorkeling allowed us to see blue star fish, parrot fish and lots and lots of corral. After a group of us walked around the whole island which only took about 20 minutes, and it could've been faster but the sand was very rough and had lots of coral in it. We were looking for the turtle feeding but did not find it. Then the girls tried to do a dance to "Call Me Maybe" and an Australian came over and tried to teach us the "Ausi Chant." We left from the hotel soon after. That night we ate at the hotel and then a group of us went out.
