July 18th: Village Day

Today we visited Waikete Village. The people in the village live off the land and live as simple as possible. They showed us around, climbed a coconut tree and fed us the food from the stream and the vegetation they have grown. The food was amazing (my favorite was the tarro root with coconut milk). Then the villagers showed us their traditional dances from the tribes. We got to dance and meet the villagers. We also tried Cava: the local welcome drink that is made from roots only found in the Pacific that numbs your mouth. It is rude to refuse it so it was tough to talk after a few coconut bowls full. We headed home and then a few of us girls went to go see Spiderman at the movie theater for $5 Fiji money (~$3 US dollars). It was such a good movie! What a good day
