September 29th: Flying Home

what our room both times looked like with a bathroom in the door on the right
the outside of the inn (apparently it's really famous from a meeting that determined the founding of Melbourne)

Today we got up early to sneak me out before the reception opened again. I had not slept well at all because we were on the top bunk and I felt very sick and feverish from how I felt once we had left Cradle Mountain. I was also STARVING because I couldn’t eat dinner the night before. Once we were out of the hostel, we walked around for a bit trying to find a place to eat. We settled on this little coffee shoppe and got our breakfast. It was then time that reception was opened and Anthony went back inside to get our bags and check out. We then waited outside the church across the street and repacked the bags. About an hour later, the shuttle to bring us back to the airport came and we were off to the airport. We got there with ten minutes to spare for going through security (not our fault, the shuttle bus wouldn’t pick us up till 10 and then he went and picked up other people too). We waited for our plane and once again had to board by walking onto the field and walking up a removable staircase. The flight lasted about two hours.

Once we landed in Sydney we were happily shocked at the increase in temperature. We walked a few blocks again to get to the train station and took the train all the way back to the Center. Once back at home, Anthony went with the boys to go play soccer and I unpacked all the bags because they smelled horrible from our day old wet clothes from the mountain. It was too much to let sit and dry so I did a huge load of laundry. I usually rinse out the bucket of laundry about 2 times, but I had to rinse the laundry about 8 times before the brown water was clear. Once that was done I was able to organize all our stuff and felt good about the way things looked now that we were back. I laid on the bed to finally catch my breath and relax… today was long. I’m bittersweet about being back.

(it's my last day of being a teenager: This past week could not have been a better way to sum up my teen years)
