Today I went on the wine tour that I had paid for at the
start of the semester. It was a really long trip out to the winery but it was
worth it. In Hunter Valley there are over 200 wineries but our group went to
three. The wine tasting went for about 30 minutes total and we tried three
different whites, reds and a dessert wine. We went to two wineries before lunch
(including a tour of the factory) and had lunch provided at a very nice restaurant.
Then we headed off to a chocolate shop. The chocolate was super expensive but
amazing. On our way to the next winery, I spotted a group of kangaroos in a field
and the bus driver stopped the bus. We thought we were just going to take
pictures from the bus but he opened the door and told us to be careful. We wandered
into the field and got surprisingly close to them. They were so cool to watch. They
stared right back at us and we were careful not to disturb the alpha male. Once
back in the car we saw another group and drove over to them and these were a
lot smaller in size and they had a baby joey with them. It was really cool to
see them in the wild and not in a zoo or a picture. Next we headed to our last
wine tasting at a really expensive winery. Right next door was a smelly cheesy
shop and we were able to try the cheeses. I loved eating the cubes of blue
cheese and Danielle was shocked I could eat all of the smelly cheese with no
problem. Me and another French girl were the only two that were excited about eating
the smelly cheese. After this, we headed home on the two hour journey, with
everyone falling asleep in the van. Once home I was able to do my laundry by
hand and headed to bed early because it was a very long day and I didn’t get
sleep the night before.
