August 6th: First run of the Season

Because I do not have class until 3pm on Mondays I decided I would start getting back into an exercise routine. I ran for about 40 minutes on a quick route up some hills in the middle of campus. I’m not used to outdoor work outs because I know that my asthma will act up if the temperature isn’t right. When I got back I was so red, wheezy and out of breath. I biked a bit over the summer and worked out at school on occasion with my Zumba class, but I haven’t really pushed myself hard since before I went to Italy. With the food from Italy, summer and then Fiji all built up in my system and not being used to really pushing my body, my asthma kicked in for a bit and I didn’t feel too great. I got back and did some Zumba that I had remembered. That cooled me down and I got ready to go to class. The professor I have on my Monday lectures for Marine Birds and Mammals is great. He has some sense of humor and knows how to talk about the animals from his own experience. Ashley (the English boy in my class who is my friend) and I talked after class and agreed that we wanted to the field trip to whale watch on the same day. I’m very excited, because although it is required, it is a cheap price and we get a private boat to learn about all the birds and mammals we have been studying.
When I got home I was reading and Mal came in and snagged me to go into a part of the city with them. We walked around a half an hour before the shops close (at 5:30) because Kray needed a new pair of black pants for work. We went to KMart, that was both of the boy’s first experience in a Kmart. I bought a clothes drying rack for $7 deciding that Kelsey and I can share that and the bucket she bought to hand wash our laundry. $5 a load will add up very fast. Kray decided not to buy any pants and on the car ride home I asked him what he did to his pants and when he said he ripped them and I told him I can sew he was so happy. It took me 10 minutes to sew both of the rips for free for him. He was very happy. Later that night I hung out with the boys and watched the Olympics with them and Danielle. There’s not much that can be done on a weeknight …. At least not on Monday.
