August 3rd: Animal Behavior and a Lamb Dinner
Today was the most relaxing day I’ve had in a very long time. Once awake and dressed, I hung out with Anthony and ate rice for breakfast since I no longer have breakfast food. We sat for hours and showed pictures of home to each other, mostly me. I think he knew I needed to talk about home because I haven’t really had the chance to yet. I haven’t been homesick and talking about home and seeing familiar faces on my computer didn’t make me feel homesick but it was nice to just have the opportunity to talk about it. He thinks that our house is a funny color (finally someone to agree with me), that Elliot is around 25 and that my family “doesn’t look Anglo…. Very northern European.” Then Mal came home and we chilled till 3 till the boys went to go play football. I walked down to the Hub to try to go and take the risk of registering for Animal Behavior. Because it was not approved to transfer it was a big risk to take, but I hated Ecology and because I was no longer able to minor in chemistry, I had some slots open for courses I can take at home. So I knew that even if I took it and it didn’t transfer I would still graduate on time and that I would enjoy myself a lot more this semester. It was a risk that I only felt comfortable taking once looking at my academic plan and hearing from my advisor that the class seemed like it could transfer even though she was not the one to make the decision. I had to walk a bunch across campus to find the professor to approve me into the class based off my transcripts and then was registered into the class with an hour of add/drop to spare. On my way back I sat and watched the boys play football. Afterwards, the boys left and Anthony and I just hung out and then he left to go back home. I made a very good dinner of lamb and home fries and a salad. It was such an amazing dinner after two plates I still wanted more. Danielle was impressed with my cooking and says that I cook very healthy for my budget. Once finished, we chilled with Kray and Mal and watched some tv and then Mal gave me his space heater for my room because I was so cold. It felt so nice to fall asleep with warmth for once.
